Great white shark visiting waters near Tampa Bay

The 12 1/2-foot shark was detected about 100 miles off the coast.

TAMPA, Fla. — There's another spring breaker in the Bay area, but you wouldn't want to run into this one on the beach.

Ocearch, which tracks sharks that have been tagged in the wild, reports Miss Costa, a great white shark, was detected a little more than 100 miles off the Florida coast on Monday.

Miss Costa is about 12 1/2 feet long and weighs 1,668 pounds. She was tagged in 2016 in Nantucket, Mass.

According to her tracker, this is her second trip to the Gulf waters. She was in the area in January 2018. To track Miss Costa and other sharks, visit Ocearch's website.
